I recently posted on home-birth here, and lamented that “the myth that home birth is irresponsible and dangerous, and that safe birth can happen only in the hands (or instruments? or power?) of the medical profession, will have gotten another, unjustified, boost – chipping away, once more, at the already shaky recognition and awareness of women’s authority over their own bodies.”
It is worth pointing that the lack of support for home birth is not just a real problem, with all its detrimental consequences for parental self-determination, but that in some places, not so far away, it is being actively criminalised: read here.
