Scorbutic Nostalgia and the Literary Imagination

Coming up this week at the CHH is a seminar by Professor Jonathan Lamb of Vanderbilt University on ‘Scorbutic Nostalgia and the Literary Imagination’.

Professor Lamb is Andrew W. Mellon Professor of the Humanities in the English Department at Vanderbilt University and is currently a visiting fellow at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London to research a book for Princeton University Press entitled ‘Scurvy, the Disease of Discovery’. Lamb worked extensively on this topic in the late 1990s while researching on another book, ‘Preserving the Self in the South Seas‘ (University of Chicago Press, 2001) and in this seminar he will talk about his most recent research on this topic.

The seminar will take place on April 11th in room K6.63 (King’s College Strand Campus) from 6pm.
All are welcome to attend and there is no need to RSVP.
